Hainan's Spring Festival Cultural Calendar

The winter and early spring of 2026 on Hainan promise to be incredibly hot—in every sense of the word.

This is a time when the island pulses with the rhythm of celebrations, transforming into a global epicenter for travelers. Do you want to immerse yourself in the whirlwind of China's most important festival, cheer for world champions at elite sporting arenas, or simply bask in unique local celebrations under the gentle sun? Then this guide to the first quarter of 2026 is your must-read.

We have compiled the key reasons to visit Hainan during this magical season.

From January 19 to March 22, the exhibition "Dialog Without Borders: Joint International Exhibition of Contemporary Art" will be held.

Tickets will be available for purchase at the venue. The exhibition will take place at the Sanya CBD Cultural Heritage and Art Center (6th Floor), Building 2, Taiping Financial Industry Port (太平金融产业港2号楼，三亚CBD文物艺术中心（6楼）).

From January 5 to March 8, 2026, the personal exhibition "Tides" (《潮汐》) by Ma Jiusi (马九思) will be held at the Sanya EDITION hotel. The venue is the Jinghope Art Center, located at 100 Haitang North Road, Haitang District, Sanya (三亚市海棠区海棠北路100号，三亚艾迪逊酒店星合艺术中心).

Admission is free.

Throughout the entire year, from December 16, 2025 to December 16, 2026, numerous cultural performances are planned at the new art space "DramaPark" , located in the Sanya Summer Station shopping mall (三亚夏日站).

To purchase tickets, search for "DramaPark抓马演艺新空间" on the Maoyan (猫眼) platform.

From December 6, 2025 to March 22, 2026, immersive evening performances "See Sanya" will be held near the Fantasy Town park in Haitang Bay.

From December 26, 2025 to March 22, 2026, the group exhibition "A Blinking in the void"  will be held at the Jinghope Art Center  located on the 1st floor of the Sanya EDITION hotel (三亚艾迪逊酒店一层).

To visit the exhibition, you must subscribe to the official WeChat account "星合艺术中心".

From December 15, 2025 to March 15, 2026, the deep printing art exhibition "Sanya, Yazhou: The Great Gilding of the Land" will be held.

From February 6 to 8, 2026, Wang Lihong's (王力宏) "The Best Place" (《最好的地方》) tour concert will be held in Sanya.

The concert will take place at the Sanya Sports Center - Egret Stadium (三亚市体育中心-白鹭体育馆).

Ticket sales platforms: Damai (大麦), Maoyan (猫眼), PiaoXingqiu (票星球), Ctrip (携程).

From January 15 to April 9, 2026, a large-scale immersive visual equestrian show will be held at the Sanya National Paddy Field Park, Haitang Equestrian Club (三亚国家水稻公园, 海棠马术俱乐部).

From January 24 to March 9, 2026, the Third Yazhou Bay Illustration Festival (第三届崖州湾插画艺术节) will be held in Sanya.

Venue: Yazhou Culture and Sports Center Art Museum, Sanya (三亚崖州文体中心艺术馆). Opening hours: 9:00–18:30.

From January 26 to March 8, 2026, the 2026 New Year Lantern Festival  will be held at the Sanya Silk Road Paradise  park.

To attend the festival, park entrance tickets must be purchased at the gate.

Address: Hongse Red Detachment of Women Park Scenic Area, Liyun Road, East of Binglang River, Tianya District, Sanya City, Hainan Province (海南省三亚市天涯区槟榔河东侧黎韵路三亚红色娘子军演艺公园景区).

Another lantern festival will be held from January 30 to March 8, 2026 in Haitang Bay.

The festival will take place at the Sanya National Rice Field Park (水稻国家公园). Tickets will be available for purchase by scanning a QR code.

On February 6–7, 2026, sports enthusiasts are invited to Dadonghai Square for the Open Taekwondo Beach Tournament, held as part of the 2026 Sanya New Year celebrations.

From February 15 to 23, 2026, the 2026 New Year Carnival  will be held at the "Ends of the Earth" (天涯海角) scenic area.

From February 17 to 23, 2026, themed New Year events titled "Riding the Wave to Welcome Spring in the Hainan FTP 2026" will be held in Houhai, Huanghou Bay (后海•皇后湾).

Online registration is required to participate in the surfing events. Admission is free for spectators.

On February 22–23, 2026, the Beach Sports Carnival, part of the 2026 Sanya New Year celebrations, will be held.

Location: Sanya Bay Haiyue Square Beach (三亚湾海月广场沙滩).

On March 3, 2026, the Open Beach Bodybuilding Competition, part of the 2026 Sanya New Year celebrations, will be held at the Dadonghai Square (大东海广场).
